ReWild Sacramento is in enthusiastic support of the city's adoption of the Urban Forest Plan, and we would like to emphasize that adoption is just the first steps. We’re urging the city to back this plan with dedicated funding and concrete action steps. This is a critical moment - we either build resilience through smart tree policy or risk leaving vulnerable communities behind.
Trees aren’t just nice to have - they’re essential infrastructure. They cool our neighborhoods, clean our air, and make streets safer by calming traffic. But here’s the key issue: not all Sacramento neighborhoods have equal tree coverage. We need to ensure every resident, regardless of zip code, benefits from shade and cleaner air. As our city grows and changes, trees are what will keep Sacramento livable for future generations.
