We want to celebrate the adoption of Sacramento's Urban Forest Plan (thank City Council and city staff!) by encouraging the planting of a record number of trees during the 25-26 planting season.

From November 1 through Arbor Day 2026 we're giving points for each tree planted in a Council District. The District with the most points will get some bragging rights, but really, we'll all have won! We'll also be holding a party to celebrate.

Each tree planted earns 1 point except for the following bonus categories. A tree planted:

1. • in a rental property is worth 1.5 points.

   • by an organized youth group (under 18) is worth 2 points.

   • in a “red” area of the city, as noted in the Urban Forestry Plan, is worth 2.5 points.

   • where pavement or asphalt has been removed (de-paving) is worth 3 points.

We're looking for leaders who want to get a group of people together to plant trees in their neighborhoods. We'll provide training and support, and a great step by step plan. It's very easy and it's something you can do right now to help the environment. Click to sign up.
